The first step was to establish a petitioner <\/span><\/strong>for the cause, the association <\/span>Les Amis du P\u00e8re Caffarel <\/strong>. The petitioner appointed a <\/span>postulator<\/strong>, Father Paul-Dominique Marcovits, o.p. The Archbishop of Paris formed a <\/span>commission<\/strong>, tasked with conducting the Diocesan Inquiry on his behalf. He appointed Monsignor Maurice Fr\u00e9chard to chair this commission, two <\/span>theologians <\/span><\/strong>to examine the theological and spiritual quality of the writings, and three <\/span>historians <\/span><\/strong>to deepen the understanding of Father Henri Caffarel’s biography, his personality, his spirituality, and their significance in the historical context.<\/p>\n The Congregation then appointed a relator from within its ranks. A Roman postulator, Father Angelo Paleri, and a writer of the Positio<\/em>, Father Paul-Dominique Marcovits, were appointed.
